facilitated groups for young people
We can facilitate and deliver one of OTR’s therapeutic groups direct for young people at your setting
Mind Aid
At Mind Aid, we look together at how living in difficult situations can cause feelings related to anxiety, low mood, or depression, and learn ways that might help us manage better in what is often a stressful world. The workshop also offers a space to share with other young people going through the same stuff, but they don’t have to talk if they don’t want to.
Young people will learn how to protect themselves from everyday challenges, how to challenge their thoughts, how to relax and feel safe (a strategy that can also help with sleeplessness!), and how to use simple techniques to build and maintain good mental health.
Each workshop meets once a week for six weeks, and each has about 10 young people of a similar age in attendance.
We can come and run one of our therapeutic groups directly to young people in your setting. We can also train your staff to run these themselves. In addition, we are able to offer awareness-raising training in various areas that affect young people’s mental health and a consultancy service to look at how you can improve what you are already doing.
Shameless
At Shameless we look at why we’ve grown to feel ashamed of our bodies, where expectations of how we should look come from, and how to fight back against these messages.
During Shameless we learn how to protect ourselves by:
Exposing the media
Challenging our thoughts and behaviours
Building self-worth
Together we find practical ways to grow in confidence, accept our bodies and learn to celebrate who we are.
