CBT: Tool, tips and Techniques

An introduction to using the CBT model when working to support young people with their mental health. It provides a grounding in CBT theory and a few practical activities that professionals can use in their practice. NB: This is an introductory training on some basic CBT-style techniques, rather than a training that licences people to deliver CBT therapy. Included in the training will be a section about the safe use of techniques and limits of competence. Click for more information.

Introduction to Adolescent Mental Health

This training aims to give an overview of OTR's understanding of adolescent mental health, and a grounding for other, more specialised, areas of training. It contains some activities about the variety of pressures and challenges that young people face, some information about common presentations of poor mental health and how to identify them, a way to theorise what influences an individual's mental health (the biopsychosocial model), and some introductory information about working with self-harm and suicide. Working Confidently with Gender and Sexuality

Gender and sexuality are two of the most powerful organising principles in our society and as such require exploring and understanding in an empowering and informative way. This training is developed by Freedom, OTR’s LGBTQ+ youth service. Freedom celebrated its 25th year of existence in 2020 and is the longest-running LGBTQ+ youth group in the UK.
